1 Corinthians 9:23
The trials Job faced are almost too much for the mind to comprehend. He suffered the loss of his health, his family and his possessions. After a lengthy spell of sitting in silence he finally speaks. His first words express the depth of his suffering. His eyes are no longer on the Lord and his tongue is no longer expressing praise. This time he looks at all that has happened to him and begins to declare a curse upon what he determines to be the root cause of all his troubles.

1 Corinthians 8:13
When we read the story of Job we often forget that until he is stricken with physical calamity his wife had suffered as much as he had. She too lost her family and was in a time of mourning. All the evidence speaks of her as being a good and godly woman. She, alongside her husband had raised ten children who loved one another deeply and seemed to have a relationship with the Lord. When she cries out “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!” She is speaking out of the pain of loss.
